Tools we love:

QuickBooks – QuickBooks comes as a Desktop or Online Cloud version. The Desktop is a more extensive software but the Online version allows for greater flexibility, with more users available, no risk of two live sets of data, and access from anywhere. The maker of QuickBooks, Intuit, has many other software resources that can sync with QuickBooks, as well as many apps that can be connected making it extremely customizable.

Xero – Another great accounting software for startups, small, and medium sized businesses. Started in New Zealand this cloud accounting software is quickly becoming a contender with QuickBooks. Their Xero U training videos are particularly helpful when just starting out. Xero is also well priced for start ups at only $9 a month and a promo for 30% off the first 6 months. The second level of Xero includes payroll for up to 5 employees.

TSheets  – The best employee time tracker out there. Totally customizable, you can add jobs, subjobs, clients, and more. Run reports by client, job, or employee. We use it and love it. It also syncs with Xero, QuickBooks, Gusto, and more. Affiliate.

Expensify – A fantastic and simple way to track expenses for personal or business reasons. It allows you to manage expense transactions, upload photos of receipts or email receipts to create eReceipts, IRS compliant, and it allows supervisors to approve and export employee expense reports. Expensify can also track time, mileage, real time flight updates, and it has an offline mode. It syncs with QuickBooks, Xero, TSheets, and more. – This is a great time saving paperless payment system. You can upload, email, or fax your payables to your account and quickly and easily make payments either with an ACH payment or a paper check. With varying approval levels for payments as well as the abilty to send invoices and receive payments through you end up with a strong tool in your business. It also has the ability to sync with Quickbooks, Xero, and more.
